My thoughts - Thailand is listed no. 19, apparently it's not Bangkok or Chiang Mai that has this reputation. It is the provinces of Yala, Pattani, Narathiwat, and Songkhla. Though I always commute around Thailand, but I have never been to these cities. So steer clear from these places.
