The Cost of Travel Living

TO MAKE A BETTER TRAVEL LIVING -

Traveling on my own, aside from budgeting on flight and accommodation expenses, I always consider other monetary factor such as transport, amenities, drinks, snacks and coffees etc. These nitty-gritty can really cost a chunk from my travel expenses.

i)  Meal - Do I splurge myself in fine dining or mid-range restaurant or "grab a bite" to eat. Of course, as a budget traveler, I have to limit myself to only dine once in a mid-range restaurant over the span of 2 days staying in a foreign city, and the rest will be street food stalls along the road that offer a cheap prize go-to meal.

ii) Local travel expenses - How do I commute around the city? Some cities like Tokyo and Bangkok has a fully organized train system that can bring you to the destination with just a few steps away. Others like Chiang Mai, can be commute by the local "Tuk Tuk" or "Songthaews" Both offers a convenient means of transportation with affordable fare.

iii) Amenities - Forgotten to pack something? No worries. Convenient store or pharmacy always give me the last minute purchase like adapter, power outlet, toiletries, ointment or medicine and essential items like water, snacks, or packed dinner. Usually I will keep aside about USD20 for 2 night stays.

iv) Internet - The hotel I stay mostly have a horrible access of WIFI. To avoid the hassle, I reload my sim from convenient store for just merely USD6, that will give me the convenient of WIFI in the hotel and while I'm on the road using my Google maps to search for tourist spot.

v) Shopping - Night Markets, Malls, souvenirs, knickknacks and etc.

vi) Tour group - Half day/full day tour that offer tours to city or outskirt location

To estimate the expenses with accuracy, I will always looked up to Numbeo. The website offer the price checking on cost of living before travel to the country. It offers the world's largest database from user who contributed the data about cities and countries worldwide. Just click on the dropdown list, select the country or type in the name of the city, the answer will review as requested.
