Booking For A Hotel - Part II

TO MAKE A BETTER TRAVEL LIVING -

 For the second factor :

2) Amenities : -

For some travelers, amenities may not play an important role as their purpose of visit is going all out and not to return to hotel until late at night, but for me insufficient hotel amenities may lead to disadvantages or the key factor whether i should return to the hotel for a second stay.

a) Plug & Socket
I list this as my first priority as it gives me a great convenient if there are more.

I carried an I phone 6+, a Samsung (SM-G313HZ), a laptop, and a Power Bank and numerous adapter whenever I go travel. So, as soon as i checked into the hotel, i will immediately look for a plug to charge my mobile phone, namely my Samsung SM-G313HZ(SG). This is because SG phone's battery drain out 4 times faster than other gadgets especially when i have to turn on my SG mobile data and hot spot to my I Phone 6+ through the whole day.

If the hotel can offer more plugs & sockets, that will be a great advantage as i can charge more gadgets at the same time. Otherwise, I will need to juggle the charging between my I phone 6+, Samsung (SM-G313HZ), the laptop, and the Power Bank which is a big hassle.

Case in point, I stayed in a Budget hotel, but they only have 2 plug points. One plug has already occupied by the fridge which I needed to stay plug in as i need to chill my drinks. Luckily, i brought along an extension which solves my troubles (If situation prevail, i don't usually prefer to bring along an electrical extension due to space constraint and it will add weight in my luggage.)

b) WIFI

Hotel WIFI are really questionable and unstable! Though many hotel always declared Free-WIFI during booking. However, things were different after check in.

Apparently, I read some articles this problem is not only limited to Asian Countries, It also happened to hotels in US. The reason being is due to "Hotels haven't thought through their implementation of WIFI. Many people are using the same resource, at the same time. But the amount of broadband resources is insufficient for the demand. The First problem is capacity. The Second problem is the access. Therefore, it's a perfect storm for a miserable WIFI experience." an excerpt i read from the article.

In most hotel networks, they were built out to serve an expected one device per room, however today's standard, there maybe few devices namely Laptop, iPhones, iPads, Androids tablets all tag into one network in one room. If there are 2 adults checking in, so, I'm estimating at least six devices to tag into the one network. So, understandably, with the cost limitation a budget hotel faced, they are not willing to upgrade the WIFI network.

Lucky for US hoteliers, they can demand refund for unsatisfactory WIFI. But, things cannot be the same for Asian Countries. As Free WIFI is a perk that comes with hotel. So, the hotel staff can't expect me to complain something that is FREE.

So, to solve the WIFI problem, usually I will go to the convenient store to reload my card. Then choose the mobile date package i opt for. If I were to stay for 3 days, I will choose for 1 week package with 1G data line. Then hotspot to my devices that need to be connected. Hassle free!!!
